Giro has built upon the previous model to introduce the Synthe MIPS helmet 2017, a widely praised, top of the line helmet made for road cycling and racing. This aerodynamic helmet comes in many different colors, and is known for its ease of adjustment and high level of comfort.

The Synthe MIPS helmet is available for purchase in several different colors, so when purchasing, please make sure that you have clicked on the link for the correct color, because some vendors only have one color available per link. Giro utilizes their Roc Loc Air system to make adjusting the width of the helmet easier, especially on the go. This model additionally features MIPS, internal helmet technology to further protect your noggin.

The ventilation in the Synthe helmet is just about the best you can get in an aerodynamic helmet without compromising its aero features. While it can get a bit stuffy at lower speeds and higher temperatures, when you're cycling at higher speeds, the ventilation system works like a charm and keeps your head cool and comfortable. With the combination of the Roc Loc Air system and the carefully placed padding, the Synthe easily adjusts to your head and applies minimal pressure in all the right places. The Synthe 2017 was the winner of OutdoorGearLab's Editors' Choice Award for many reasons, with one of them being that "the Giro Synthe is hands down the most comfortable helmet [they] have ever tested." That sets a pretty high bar, considering that they test and review a LOT of helmets. For a MIPS helmet, the Synthe seems to be pretty lightweight, and fairly durable whether you are riding during inclement weather or stowing your helmet away in a moving van. The only glaring downside to the Synthe MIPS 2017 seems to be the price. This model does cost a pretty penny, and while you would definitely be getting your money's worth, you are likely to find decently comparable models with the same safety features for a lower price.

If you are an enthusiast and serious about top of the line aerodynamics and comfort, this helmet will be a great fit for you. If you want to consider your options before making a purchase, we recommend looking at other helmets produced by Giro for similar features at a lower price.
